Head Chef

About the Role

BBQ Barn is looking for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and oversee the preparation and quality of our food.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in BBQ, grilling and meat preparation, along with excellent leadership and kitchen management skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the kitchen team.
• Oversee daily kitchen operations and food preparation.
• Prepare and oversee high-quality BBQ and grilled dishes.
• Ensure consistency in taste, quality, portion sizes and presentation.
• Develop new dishes, BBQ flavours, sauces, marinades and menu specials.
• Monitor food costs, portions, stock and wastage.
• Order and check food and kitchen supplies.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Train and guide kitchen staff.
• Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently during busy periods.
• Assist with catering, special events and large orders when required.
• Work closely with management to improve the menu and overall food experience.

Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a professional kitchen.
• Previous experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior kitchen supervisor.
• Strong BBQ and grilling experience.
• Good knowledge of meat preparation and cooking techniques.
• Experience with menu development and food costing.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Food safety and hygiene knowledge.
• Culinary qualification is an asset.
